BigStuff3 Pro SEFI System
Version 2.1 – February 2011 116
81. Loading and Saving Calibration Files
Calibration files can be saved to a file folder or loaded from an existing file in one of two ways. In
“off-line” mode, a calibration file can be saved to the PC so changes can be made “off-line” and saved
to a disc (the hard drive or flopping disc). In “on-line” mode, calibration changes are made and sent
directly to the GEN3 ECU while the ECU is “live”.
82. Save Calibration (F12 – “Quick Key”)
To save a calibration file go to File on the Tool Bar. Left click on File. The following drop down will
appear. While holding the left mouse button down, drag the mouse down until Save Calibration is
highlighted. Release the mouse button. Alternatively, hit the F12 “Quick-Key”
The following screen will appear. Name the file, in this example Norwalk Calibration-2, and hit the
PC’s
“Enter” key or left click on the Save button.
When using the BigComm software with GEN3 ECU, special care must be taken to properly save
“On-Line” calibration changes. Working_On_Line
means the BigStuff3 ECU is powered up (the
ignition is on) and is connected and communicating with the PC. A green ball will be seen moving
back and forth in the upper right hand corner of the screen as long as an operating window is open with
a dash selected. See Green_Sliding_Ball
for more details. GEN3 “On-Line” or “real time” calibration
changes are temporarily stored in the ECU’s Random Access Memory (RAM). Once the desired
calibration changes are made, they are not permanently saved to the GEN3 ECU’s “Flash” memory
until the engine is turned off
, and the ignition switch remains in the “Off” position for fifteen (15)
seconds. If further calibration changes are going to be made, the ignition switch must be turned back
